REMAINS: The memories remain, but the person is gone.

"The memories remain, but the person is gone. Remembering them is not a sign of being stuck in the past, but rather a testament to the depth of the connection that was shared." - Unknown

May nabasa ako—hindi ko na matandaan kung sa libro ba o sa internet—but it said something that stayed with me:

We don’t really forget the pain of the past, or the people we once held close.

What happens is… we get used to carrying them.

As time passes, the weight lessens.

The sharp sting dulls.

And though we sometimes remember them out of nowhere,

the difference now is—it doesn’t hurt the same.

That’s when I realized:

Just because I remember, doesn’t mean I haven’t moved on.

I have.

It’s just that the memories are still there, etched quietly into who I am.

There will be moments when the past resurfaces,

but this time, it no longer breaks me.

I've simply learned to live with it.
